A hazard is any source of harm or potential harm to a person or to property/equipment. This can include unsafe work practices or any other aspects of the work environment.
Should you identify a hazard in your workplace which you are unable to safely resolve yourself, please report it to your supervisor.
If you are dissatisfied with the steps taken by your supervisor to address the hazard, you must escalate the issue to your Hudson consultant.
An IFA is a written document used by an employer and employee to change the effect of certain conditions in a modern award. If you have been offered an IFA, this means that your role is covered by a modern award.
Modern awards require casual employees, like our contractors, to be paid an hourly rate. However, we understand that some of our contractors may prefer to be paid a daily rate if this option is available. In these cases, we offer the option to sign an IFA to change the requirement to pay an hourly rate.
An IFA will only be offered to you if you are better off overall under the terms of the IFA than you would be under the relevant modern award. In determining whether you are better off overall, consideration is given to the daily rate amount and the hours you are expected to work. This is compared against the rates payable under the relevant award, including any penalty rates, overtime or allowances that you may be entitled to for the hours you are expected to work. An IFA will only be offered to you if we are satisfied you are better off overall under the arrangement.
Importantly, an IFA is an entirely voluntary arrangement. All of our award-covered contractors have the option of being paid an hourly rate if this is their preference. If a contractor does not want to sign an IFA, we will make arrangements to pay them an hourly rate.
Once an IFA is signed, it continues to operate for the duration of your current assignment, unless it is terminated by either party with notice. An IFA will automatically come to an end once your current assignment or your employment with Hudson ends.
