Cover letters are important because they give a prospective employer greater insight into you as a potential employee and your motivation for wanting a specific job. A great cover letter encourages the reader to review your resume.
Your cover letter should be:
- approximately one page long
- addressed to the appropriate person
- written with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
- clear about how you fit the role
- finished with a positive, enthusiastic close
- carefully checked for grammatical, spelling and typographical errors.
