It may be the biggest buzz term in business right now, but what exactly is big data analytics? What’s more, how can organisations find the big data talent they need?
The term ‘big data’ refers to the huge amounts of structured and unstructured data now available to businesses which, through analysis, allows organisations to gain insights into their industries, enhance their performance and gain competitive advantage.
The material comes from a variety of sources from inside and outside an organisation. These are both traditional (financial records, customer interactions, product transactions) and digital (web statistics, social networks, browsing behaviour).
Together, it's a complicated set of information that is very difficult to process. For organisations, the challenge is to find the right people to acquire, analyse, interpret and translate this data – and then turn it into predictive insights that spur action and lead to business value.
